Each person holds so much power within themselves that needs to be let out. Sometimes they just need a little nudge, a little direction, a little support, a little coaching, and the greatest things can happen.” P. Carroll
Coaching is a partnership, where the coach supports and accompanies the client with the help of powerful and empathetic questions, active listening, brainstorming, visualisation, challenging, and many other powerful methods to clarify topics and initiate change to reach the intended goal and transformation of the client. The coach and the client work towards the client’s goals by holding her/his agenda through the entire process. We, the client and the coach are also working on changing perspectives, looking at strengths, motivations, core values, perspectives, patterns of behaviour, assumptions, and stagnant views.
In coaching, we find direction, answers, and solutions and all of it comes from the joint work of the coach with the client. It is not the coach who gives advice but the client that finds the answer with the help of the coach. The coach is a “tool” that actively listens to what the client says and also to what is not being said or remains lingering in the air.
To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” R.W.Emerson
I love working and naturally gravitate towards working with people who are at a crossroads in their life, whether in a relationship with themselves or others (family members, spouses, colleagues); that want to redirect their careers, wonder how to up their leadership (of themselves and others), wonder about their life purpose ( this is a big one), life balance and life fulfillment. A special category among the people I love working with are humanitarian workers as I know the ins and outs of this profession and understand just how challenging many of the transitions in this field can be. I am passionate about uncovering and using the huge potential that lies in each and every one of you and I consider every single client as a unique leader unto herself/himself.
I can also utilise my skills as a yoga teacher and meditation teacher in my coaching too. You may ask: in what way? The body and mind connection is crucial here and sometimes the words don’t come out of the mouth but the body speaks. And it doesn’t lie. Through short visualizations or embodiment work you can tap into your intuition and “gut knowledge”.
Intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.” A. Einstein
Steve Jobs once said that intuition is more powerful than intellect and the scientific community is backing him up. We have been giving intuition far too little credit but this is slowly changing as more and more people are realising the profound impact of adding the power of intuition to your toolkit. Most of us are trained to use our logical thinking for every common everyday decision, but we have been ignoring the crucial mind and body connection.
There is infinite knowledge, experience, and wisdom in each of our bodies. It speaks to us in many voices, we only need to learn to silence our minds to hear them. Yoga and meditation help to turn down the noise and calm the agitated body and mind. The magic is to know when you should listen to your intuition and when to let your mind take the charge.
What is the co-active method?
With the co-active method, I have a look at the whole person and believe that any human being is naturally creative, resourceful, and whole. With this as a base, we will combine your personal goals and how you want to live your life, and what you want to do with all of this. We will use everything that is already anchored in you and might even identify resources you were not aware of.
How is coaching different from therapy and consulting?
Firstly and most importantly, coaching assumes that all people are whole, naturally creative, and resourceful. Sometimes, this is hidden and needs some work. This may not necessarily be the case for therapy that often deals with the traumas of the past. *
Consulting is often about giving advice. This means to give directions; the same with mentoring.
My primary focus is in coaching but I am happy to provide consulting/mentoring upon the individual request of a client as long as it is within my professional competencies.
The best way to find out whether this method suits you is to book a free sample session.
* If you need help with this, I am happy to recommend a professional therapist.
